38, mother of 2, business owner, retired scientist. My advice is to embrace the loss of self and build a new self. The beauty of this is that you can now make yourself into whatever you want. Good luck 🩷

Thank you for speaking out loud. I’m 31 but i’ve been bringing my baby (now toddler) to work since he’s 5m. and yes ITS BEEN HAAARDDD. The multitask, the mental load, but ive no rights to complain bcs being a fulltime mother is like thousand times harder. No right amount could replace what all mothers do. But here we are, still showing up everyday, survival mode and also enjoying the phase 🥹🩷

35, first time mom, and full time lawyer. There’s no promotion or career milestone that could come close to making me as happy as my son does - and that’s coming from someone who was never a “baby person”. I know it’s scary not knowing how your life might change - and it will - but I just wanted to tell you there’s also a kind of love and joy that you’ll experience that’s like no other!

With motherhood, we all lose a part of ourselves. But my love, that is also the moment you become stronger, because you want to make your child proud and give them a good example to follow. Will it be difficult? Very! But with time, you will be incredibly proud. Not only of what you achieved, but most of all of the values you passed on to your child. So go for it and don’t be afraid of anything. 💛

Chloe, I’ve always admired how ambitious and driven you are. As a fellow bay area, I too was very career-driven while also co-running a start-up boba shop. Now that I am a stay at home mom of 2 in my early 30s, I can honestly say it is scary at first but ambition changes shape as you enter Motherhood. Career will always be a journey, but raising little ones is a fleeting season. So don’t let an interrupted timeline define your success. ♥️

The price is real, especially more so in high paced societies. I don’t have any hacks or strategies around this but it helped us to do 2 things: (1) think of life in seasons and embrace the season of parenthood and (2) rethink the concept of happiness. We learnt to see happiness as the freedom to chose who and how you find your time with, not just career and money. But honestly, we still struggle everyday, but it’s truly all worth it!

OMG Chloe I’m facing the same problem, I don’t know what to do… and I’m coming from this part of Europe where if you are 28, like me, you are late for kids and you need to start now… I don’t know what to do and I feel scared because the time goes but then I want to focus on myself and I don’t feel ready.. will I be ready? Pls if u make a series out of this I will be happy to follow it 💖💖

In some ways, I feel like I was “promoted” by becoming a mother. More responsibilities, higher expectations, and I’m stretched soooo thin. And i feel rewarded in the deepest human way possible, more than any kind of job can give me. 🥺❤️

31, had a baby last year and now she is almost 1. Yes you take a step back from your life and the bad sides are a lot but those are the only things people without children can relate and easily understand. You also gain a lot, a different kind of love and a new purpose in life. I will get back to my life one day but now my career is not my priority, but spending all the time I can with my family.

Just make sure it’s actually part of the life you want and not just because time is ticking and you will find a way to be you. Or you may decide it isn’t for you for at this point (38, married and dog mom instead 😆)

I had my baby when I’m 28, (33 this year), quit my engineer job and stayed home for 1.5 years. Barged into a finance job with 0 knowledge, when my kid is 2 and while I’m in finance, now deep into ai and loving every single min of what I’m doing. Not earning as much as I used to, but I’m in control of that. Took me 2 years to trust the process to now becoming restoring my ambitious brain. But on top of that all, I have a kid now who loves listening to what I do, who makes my day better when it’s all shit. So I’m happy ☺️it takes time, but you’ll get there eventually!

I'm about to get married next year and I know many will expect me to have a child and be a mother afterwards... but I will decide for it, not because the time is ticking, but because I know that I want it.

You got this, Chloe! I can only speak from my perspective. It is hard, but the pressure can be good. The part about losing yourself… it can feel that way sometimes, but mostly you’re shedding what no longer serves you. You always seem to come out on top after hardships. I’m excited to see the mother you’ll become. With your drive and creativity, I know your child will be lucky to have you as a parent.
