@instituteofhumananatomy: 🧠 Your brain can't actually feel pain — but it's surrounded by tissues that can. Pain receptors don't exist in brain tissue itself. Instead, the meninges — the protective layers surrounding the brain — are loaded with them. When tumors grow and tug or press on the meninges, that's what triggers the pain signal. Tumors that originate in the meninges are called meningiomas — the most common intracranial tumors. They arise from the arachnoid layer, attach to the dura, and grow inward. Technically not brain tissue, but they're still very much a brain tumor. 🔬 Follow for more anatomical awesomeness! #tiktoklearningcampaign #anatomy #humananatomy #brain #meninges #meningioma #braintumor #neuroscience #brainfacts #physiology #anatomyandphysiology #medschool #premed #nursingschool #learnontiktok
