I have the same problem as you. My hair on the top is less curly than my hair under. I don’t think it has something to do with the cut, the routine or the diffuser, I think it is just how our genetics is. I personally cut my hair on top shorter, so it curls a bit better and there is more volume, but it will never be as defined as my hair under.

I have a theory it might be sun damage? I have the same thing. I think the top layer just takes the most of the sun damage, even in an updo. But who knows just a theory I have for my hair and it’s a really similar curl pattern to yours. I also have collarbone length hair and it does the same thing as to when it was down to my low back.

I find that my curls aren’t as curly if I use too much moisture and not enough protein

maybe not a curly cut per se but shorter layers? that way the top layer is not as weighted. even though is the shortest layer of your hair your pattern plays a huge role here. I'm saying this because I have the same problem, some parts of my hair are wavier and other parts are straighter. so my solution was cutting more layers. I really hope you find the solution though, wedding prep is stressful enough to on top of that having hair problems :(

It is the weight, try lighter products like mouses and less creamy creams if it make sense. I had the same problem when I had my hair down to my but crack.

I don’t think it needs fixing or approaching here’s what I’ll say about all this- my hair and how I feel about it is extremely similar to yours down to liking the blunt perimeter. Your hair is absolutely gorgeous especially the shine and lack of frizz your curls retain Ik our own hair gets frustrating when we’re used to it and constantly trying to perfect it but this is how I see you as a stranger it’s absolutely gorgeous. I am not nitpicking on what curl type you have to me this curl type is more of what I call mermaid … not b c a 123 but kinda a little of everything going on at once like you just walked out do the ocean and you’re a secrete mermaid girl fr. It would honestly be so boring if every curl was the same and I really much prefer the look you got going on. I also reallyyyyyyy appreciate this video because most hair influencers don’t often show this side of curly hair ugh it comes with such frustration trying to figure it out and it takes time and it’s a constant process that includes learning to relove and accept our hair constantly over and over anyways you’re gorgeous.

I went to see your hair routine to try to figure out the problem. and I think I came with sth. try a routine without flipping your hair down. because if you do so the external part will have the most curls(your under hair and slightly the front pieces) while the rest (the visibal straight hair you me.tioned) will be inside the hair while you style it. so my recommandation is section the top part of your hair(just a little not half of the whole hair) and scrunch it seperately. I hope it would help

girl it’s ok! take a breath. i know it’s frustrating but i promise your hair is gorgeous and it’s probably just hormones. it’s kind of exciting to have different curl patterns in your hair like do you really want it ALL looking the same? something similar happened to me and i wasted so much time doing so many different things and i fear nothing ended up working. i just had to learn to love it. i hope you figure it out but if you don’t, you still look great! don’t worry

my hair is like this, super curly on the inside, a bit more stretched on top. I always wonder if it has something to do with the water pressure on the top. Heat from the water pressuring down while washing it in the shower! What do you think?💖🚿😁

Protein! Bleach has protein, which makes the curl pattern tighter. Curls need a balance of moisture and protein. If your pattern starts looking off, you have too much moisture and need protein. If you have frizz, you have too much protein and need moisture.

I think that’s pretty common? I don’t have curly hair but I have waves and the top layer is straighter than the ones under

I feel like you and I have the same hair type! What worked for me was switching up my products and then what my derm told me was it’s probably hormone related unfortunately. As you age, your hair changes. Ugh. Never ending cycle

Okay I have a similar problem AND almost the exact same hair pattern as you. The only way I have found that remotely helps is 1.) BEFORE getting out of the shower comb the hair under water, then kinda run your fingers through it to promote the curl clumps while separating the top of your hair from the bottom … THEN 2.) after getting out of the shower scrunch the extra water out out followed figure coiling only the top of the head followed by diffusing. I have also learned in growing my hair out too that less product is better! A lot of gels is what makes my curls stringy and instead using leave in conditioners = better curls

When I got my curly cut, my stylist made me switch to all my products to no silicone. And let me tell you it was painful going through all my products and not being able to use half of them but it was so so worth it. It’s been 8ish months and I was visually seeing the difference 3 months into no silicone. I completely get not liking curly cuts but I wonder if you just didn’t like your stylist you had at the time. I truly believe you can get the haircut you want from a curly cut and all the education about curly hair from a curly cut.
