Run windmill blades. Have 3 pilot cars for each load . Couldn't do the job without them .

Good pilots are indispensable. They block traffic for us, alert us to what’s going on around the load and what’s coming up. They often give us rides once we park the load to get food, groceries, gym, hotel or whatever.

Depends on the pilot car driver. If they’re good they help a ton! ❤️if they’re not and or lazy they’re as useless as chicken shit in a pump handle.

I use pilots on a daily basis, a good pilot and chase are indispensable! they block, protect our "corners" and help keep and eye on the load (there are paragraphs of things they do to keep us, the load and the general public safe) a good set of pilots and chases are like night & day.

I usually have 1 or 2 with each of my loads depending on which state I'm in. some of them are absolutely useless while others are invaluable and I don't want to move an inch without them. when you get a bad one you do your best to just ignore them and to pick up the slack for what they are lacking.

I do heavy haul, up to 150k lbs & 12 foot wide, i dont use the pilot car service but have plenty of lights and flags to make myself seen

Yes they are very important when I haul the big loads and I also have a pilot license and help out when I can and run a pilot car

We had to have one as security due to hauling expensive electronics. It was hard for us bc we'd forget they were there and lost them a couple of times.I always wondered about them too.

It depends on the size of the load. We used to call escorts. some time you require police escorts.
