Mind. Blown🤯 I was about 7 or 8 years old. She had my hair cut into a literal boy’s style, short back & sides. And even when it wasn’t that short, she would always keep my hair super ugly looking.

Yeah but mainly because I didn't like it tied up and my nursery required for girls to come with their hair tied. I dunno you could be right, but I feel on this occasion my mum wasn't acting out of malice

As a hairdresser now , some mothers bring their daughters in and ask me to cut it very short , I always ask the child what she wants and then we reach a compromise I will never cut it that short if the child doesn’t want it.

This was me at 9 or 10 and I felt so ugly - it was 1986 I always thought it was bc it was the 80’s. However as I got older and I was a teenager I grew my hair long and it was curly and I got so many compliments and I think she hated that.

My mother kept my hair so short based on her reasoning that short hair is easier. It isn't. Any time in my adult life that I have grown my hair out, she actually got angry. We have been no contact for 4 years.

Always. I was never allowed to have long hair. I had some really hideous hair cuts as a child and I remember leaving the hairdresser crying and my mother telling me to shut up because I looked fine! I’m 49 and I think I will still have long hair at 89! 😂 My 20 year old son has long hair and I would never insist he cut it. He should be free to be his own person.
