Odds are, if you’re an actor, you’ve seen an audition prompt that says: “Tell me about yourself in 60 seconds or less.” Recently, I had to think about how I wanted to introduce myself. If you’ve been on social media lately, you’ve probably seen the Netflix documentary trend making the rounds. Watching it got my wheels turning, and I decided to get creative with the assignment. One thing I always want to remind people on this page is that there is no right way to approach an opportunity. I share this not because I think it’ll get me the job. Not because I think you should copy what I did. And not because I think this is the “right” answer. I share it because it worked for me. Not in the booking sense. In the human sense. I had fun. I enjoyed the process. I got excited about the work. I took a simple idea and made it something that felt authentic to me. The rest is background noise. I want to encourage you to do the same. When you’re given an opportunity, think outside the box. Bring your perspective. Bring your imagination. Bring the things that make you uniquely you. Most importantly, have fun. We spend so much time dreading the very steps that are part of the thing we love so much. Auditions. Self tapes. Classes. Creating. Taking risks. These are all part of the journey. Will this land? I have absolutely no idea. 😂 But if you give me an assignment, I’m going to have fun with it every single time. ❤️ There is no right way. There is only your way. ✨ #netflix #selftape #acting #actress #ActingChallenge
