youre growing a hardneck variety. They produce garlic scapes. just snap the scape off, make some pesto or garlic butter, even some garlic powder or salt and call it a day. My garlic does this every year since it is a hardneck variety.

I live in upstate ny and we also had a week in April that was 80s and then it dropped back down to 40s. Really confused all the plants

I would let some of the ones that didn't become witches brooms in to make seeds, that way you will get this problem less and less over the years by obly keeping the well adapted plants

Okie here - our weather has been SO wonky. My poor garden is doing wonky things. I noticed my garlic looked sad the other day. Now I’m definitely going to go check it and see if this is something that I now have to deal with. Never heard of this. Thank you for sharing!

This year was horrible for my onions, I’m glad I wasn’t up to garlic this year bc it would have been a waste of time! We spent almost all of February in the high 80s and lost so many onions from going to flower
