@kirboforlife: Zimmermann Telegram (1917) Countryhumans Animation (Meme) Featuring: USA 🇺🇸 Great Britain 🇬🇧 Mexico 🇲🇽 Germany 🇩🇪 Context: During WW1, Germany sent Mexico a secret telegram that promised they would aid the Mexicans in recovering territory lost to the USA in the Mexican-American War. This was called the Zimmermann Telegram. From what I've learned, the Germans feared the USA would join WW1 as an enemy, so they planned to distract the USA with a conflict coming from Mexico. It ended up backfiring, as the British intercepted the Zimmermann Telegram and showed it to the Americans. The Americans joined the Allied Powers.
