men always think dating a lady trucker sounds fun… until they realize i’m not built like the kind of woman they can keep neat, soft, and convenient. that’s when the weird comments start. that’s when the little judgment starts. that’s when “you’re different” stops sounding like a compliment. here’s the part most of them can’t handle: 1. i get too comfortable too fast. after long days on the road, i’m not sitting there trying to look cute every second. if i’m tired, i’m tired. if i’m hungry, i’m eating. if my hair’s a mess and i smell like the day, oh well. a lot of men say they want a “real” woman until real stops performing for them. 2. nothing about my life feels delicate. my job is loud, dirty, sweaty, cramped, and full of things most women would never willingly put up with. so when a man expects me to act all polished and precious 24/7 after that, it just feels ridiculous. this life hardens you a little. and apparently a lot of men only like tough women in theory. 3. I talk about gross things way too casually now. bathrooms, smells, body stuff, truck stop chaos, random disgusting moments on the road… after enough time trucking, your filter changes. what feels like normal conversation to me suddenly has men looking at me like i ruined the illusion. that’s really what it comes down to. men love the idea of dating a lady trucker because it sounds hot, different, edgy, and fun. but once they realize this life comes with grime, weird habits, less vanity, and a woman who is a lot less “precious” than they expected…
