@kimberlyydang: Something new for your word bank. If you used to struggle with finding the right words to articulate yourself - I’m right there with you, in interviews, conversations, and social settings, until I realised I was relying on a closed vocabulary bank rather than improving and expanding it. Your surface lexicon is simply the vocabulary your brain unconsciously defaults to when speaking. Most of us know far more words than we actually use, but under pressure we revert to vague language like “good,” “nice,” or “cool” because those words are EASIEST to retrieve!! By consciously practising stronger vocabulary and repeating words you genuinely want to use, you make them easier for your brain to access in real time. Over time, those words stop feeling forced and start becoming your natural speaking style. #lexicon #articulation #wellspoken #vocabularyimprove #fyp

As a Latina, I always tell myself to SLOW DOWN when I talk fr it gives me more time to also THINK before I speak so I may articulate myself better to convey my thoughts more effectively

Holy crap you absolutely correct! I tend to write with exceptional vocabulary. However, speech is something I lack, as it takes longer for my vocabulary to reach me.

another pro tip!! read text out loud !! sounds. building "muscle memory" for complex sounds - it forces you to form consonants and vowels accurately, trains your breathing and cadence, and helps you transition smoothly between words

Yeah. I got called “articulate” when I asked for a “précis”. 😭 sometimes I get praised but most of the time I am told I am pretentious.

First step to do this is to get comfortable with dead air. If you don’t feel the need to fill up dead airs, you’ll stop using word fillers and be more intentional with your words

People say read books but I don’t know which genre I’m into, I just don’t want to end up reading a bad book thinking it was great. Can someone recommend me some?

i agree that it's more about the vocabulary choice rather than the length of the sentence. As shakespeare said, brevity is the soul of wit.
