A man places an order, but Gregorio wonders what the customer will use the automaton for The stories range from disturbing horror to sci-fi and even historical fiction I really loved Eliza Victoria’s horror novel Ascension Emilia runs into Alma, an old friend from her hometown in Bulacan, whom she hasn’t seen in years Alma suddenly passes away, and Emilia finds her way back to Santa Clara, to her circle of friends, who bring up memories of a bizarre ritual in a rotting house left unfinished I thought this book was genuinely creepy, and I love how it’s so Filipino Kenneth Yu’s Mouths to Speak, Voices to Sing is a collection of short horror stories with a lot of heart It’s a weird thing to say about a horror book, but Kenneth’s writing made me go “awww” In “The Kiddie Pool,” a swimmer hears crying whenever he’s underwater In “Time for Rest,” a man reminisces about his memories in school, including a ghost story But the stories here aren’t all touching and sweet, like “Cherry Clubbing” It’s about men who come to the Philippines to try… well, you have to read it to find out #BookTok #booktokph #booktokphilippines #horrortok #horrorbooks
