@offenceregister: A dangerous predator who systematically groomed and sexually abused multiple young girls across the UK—even raping a thirteen-year-old girl in a tent on Dartmoor—has had his prison sentence massively increased. 59-year-old Derek Johnson, originally from Gloucestershire, is facing nearly two decades behind bars. The Offences and Trial Details Johnson admitted sixteen horrific child sexual offences at Gloucester Crown Court after running a calculated digital grooming campaign. The prosecution exposed his depravity, proving he targeted minor girls online before travelling across regional borders to execute sustained physical violations and film the abuse. Sentences and Court Orders Following a high-level intervention by the Solicitor General under the Unduly Lenient Sentence scheme, the Court of Appeal stepped in to protect the community. The judiciary smashed his initial fifteen-year sentence, increasing it to a massive nineteen years and six months inside, plus a mandatory five-year extended tracking licence. Investigation and Impact The intensive investigation by public protection units revealed that the predator logged his horrific crimes in a digital calendar app. When detectives closed in, Johnson breached his bail and fled to the Republic of Ireland, triggering an international manhunt that tracked him down and extradited him back to face maximum justice.
