@dilzeditz_: ~ I feel that Buddhism can be easily missed by people, because it is a Dharma that transcends the confines of a traditional religion and reaches far beyond it.. 😍🙏🤍 ~ Misconceptions Regarding Vinaya Rules and the Buddha's Attitude Towards Women.. 👁️ Many people hold misconceptions regarding the disciplinary codes (Vinaya) in Buddhism and the Buddha’s stance on women.. ~Was the Buddha misogynistic? Why are there more rules for Bhikkhunis (nuns)? To this common question, I offer this perspective.. - Buddhism is a philosophy rooted in compassion and wisdom. Nowhere in its core teachings is there discrimination based on gender.. 1. Security and Protection Given the social environment of that era, women practicing a homeless life of reclusion faced significant risks of social and physical harassment. The additional rules for Bhikkhunis were established not to control them, but to ensure their safety and protection. 2. Preserving Dignity Certain rules were enacted to safeguard the dignity of women in the Sasana and to ensure the longevity of the order. It is akin to a protective fence built around a flower to keep it from being withered or harmed.. 3. Was He Anti-Woman? Absolutely not. The Buddha was the first religious leader in world history to grant women the right to ordination, publicly declaring that women are equally capable of attaining 'Arahantship' (Enlightenment).. Granting ordination to Maha Prajapati Gotami (following Ven. Ananda’s request) proves that the Buddha valued the spiritual liberation of women.. 🌸 Summary The increased number of rules was not due to "inequality," but because women faced more "complex social challenges" at the time.. The freedom and respect the Buddha accorded to women is rarely seen in any other ancient philosophy.. 📌 Points for Further Clarification: 1. The Eight Garudhammas (Heavy Rules): These were established to ensure the Bhikkhuni Sasana remained stable and disciplined within the context of that society, not to demean women.. 2. Social Context: In ancient India, women held a very low social status.. Guiding women toward the highest spiritual attainment (Nirvana) in such an era is a testament to the Buddha’s 'progressive thinking'.. 3. Equal Spiritual Rights: Characters like the laywoman 'Chitta' and the Arahant nun 'Uppalavanna' demonstrate that there is no gender distinction when it comes to realizing the Dhamma.. ~ Wisdom has no gender, there is only Nirvana..! 🪷 (Sinhala translation in the first comment.) #buddhism #buddha #theravada #srilanka #truth

She intentionally missed this. If she studied 10 years she knows. As a westerner we don’t believe everything she says. The illusion she portrays is a comfort zone to many people. We know the Buddhism is a beautiful philosophy and much much deeper spiritualy and religiously 💗
