@jessicajordan44: Just putting myself and family first for a little bit 💕 #daycareprovider #inhomedaycare #daycarechronicles101 #Summer #summervacation
You should market towards teachers! We love daycares designed for us. Open using the school year during school hours, but we don’t need to pay in the summer to hold our spots for the following year.

As a working full time parent I would be pissed if my daycare closed the entire summer! It’s your family and your decision but don’t be surprised if they don’t return in the fall. At that moment they probably didn’t want to say that. If you do get new kids on in the fall, I would definitely let them know you possibly would be closed the following summer.

My sister only watches teachers kids so she can be on the same schedule with her children. Good for you!

I feel like social media is the downfall. I certainly wouldn’t count on it. I started watching you for your daycare content. I

I would stop the social media. Just saying. Time consuming.

Some of these comments. At the end of the day she is a human being doing a job. My hairstylist sets their own schedule, our childcare providers set their schedules, etc. if her schedules don't work for you, you're not entitled to control that. Find a provider that works for you. Weird to bash someone for prioritizing their needs.

as a parent paying for daycare, I would be looking for a loving, caring, supportive daycare that doesn't only work Monday- Thursday September through May. For out of the house working parents it is extremely difficult to find good daycare ( especially with the cost) and when you need to have a daycare for mon-thur then one for Friday and one that is only summer.....too much hassle and BS. don't be surprised when they don't return and then you and your husband will both be out of the house working daily

Social media could be gone tomorrow daycare will always be a need. I don’t see many parents being ok with having to find new daycare every summer.

Didn’t you just start taking Fridays with your family too? So families found caregivers then as well?

Daycare will always be there. Your kids are only kids for such a short time 🤎

My son’s home daycare she follows the school year calendar and she loves it. Try getting more teachers families, then go to the school calendar year and have the same day offs 🥰

I understand we all have opinions and some of you agree with Jessica and some of you don’t, but she understands that this caused some hardship on these families but where do we get the right to make someone for feeling bad for a decision that was made in the interest of her, her children, and her husband. Unless you’re in this exact same position, you don’t get an opinion. So with all of this said, Jessica I am happy for you and your family and hope you all have the best summer ever! 🩷

Jessica I have been doing home daycare for 22 years. I have 2 options for you. For the first 18 years I had a partner she did half the week at her house and I did half the week of mine so I had half the week off. She has since retired so for the last 3 years o have only taken teachers kids so have summers off. Or find them a HS kid to watch their kid in summer. It’s been amazing.

maybe a different profession, it's extremely difficult for parents to find safe, reliable daycare and then to need different Friday daycare and now summer daycare?

You need to do what’s good for you and your family. But that being said my day care provider would never “ send a message “ on something so do important. I feel you should have done face to face. I’m sure families will be kind but probably will find day care that their children stay year round. Kind of hard on a child to go back and forth with different rules etc.

These comments telling her that it isn’t fair to the parents of the daycare kids…she is trying to be fair to HER children in HER home. She made the decision because it’s what’s best for her family, there should be zero judgment here.

You sent it in a message not told them in person ? As someone who relays on my day care provider id except the curiosity of being told in person at least 😳

Curious question: How do you retain families over the summer if you’re not open?

The bottom line is you are SELF EMPLOYED..you can choose whatever days/hours YOU want. If some of your daycare parents choose not to continue in the fall, that’s their choice. YOUR own family comes FIRST. You also let them know in February so they had plenty of time to line up new daycare/summer camps for the summer.

As a working parent who's had to rely on daycare for summer in a town with limited options I would be mad and frustrated up front from the shock value of it but at the same time I would fully understand. if you let them know in Feb with school ending in June than you gave enough warning. do what's best for your family and yourself. I can tell how much you care about the daycare and littles in it with your videos, so I'm sure this wasn't the easiest decision.
