@ashwhyy: misogyny in Islamic communities harms and mrdrds MILLIONS of girls and women worldwide in the name of Allah. it’s wrong, not from Allah, but we can’t ignore that at this point, misogyny has infected our ummah. It’s here, it’s not natural to the religion, it is absolutely a consequence of patriarchy and colonialism, but it’s here and it’s ours now. It’s all of our responsibility to address it. Protecting Muslim men from accountability for their misogyny and weaponization of Islam to abuse girls and women doesn’t help ANYONE and it certainly doesn’t help Muslims !!

You can't solve the systemic issues within religion unless you reform it. And reforming it means becoming an apostate, immediately. Same for being essentially a Quranist, according to Sunni Islam at least that makes you an apostate. Now I think people should be free to do that, but that's gonna be a long life battle. here is a personal story, a part of my family is Bosnian muslim, when I was visiting the last time, we were speaking and I mentioned that I was reading the quran (not religious myself) and my family, had mentioned how the religion has changed in their lifetimes, since the fall of Yugoslavia (all of them are older than 60, oldest was over 85) the Saudi gov has invested billions into the country, begun building mosques and bringing their own hođa (can't remember the english word for the term, only bosnian) to the country.. not only have the teachings become more mysoginistic, but also, they found (one of them was a hođa himself but stopped preaching due to these influences 15 years ago) how the quran itself was changed by the Saudis, to push a more exclusionist ideology, we then compared an older quran he had, around 25 years old, one over 100 years old (made in the Ottoman empire) one that has been in my family for a while and a new one he was gifted by one of these Saudi hođas, the older 2 were identical, the new one had more mysoginistic ideas (which credit to a 73 year old, even he noticed) and a many other extremist ideas, such as not letting non muslims into your home/not speaking to them at all etc. quite scary and it is directly noticable in the Bosnian society, as the muslim and christian communities have gotten more and more at odds, both hating eachother, while they were able to coexist and be friends until the fall of Yugoslavia and until this false conflict was manufactured
