The Ten Commandments are God's unchangeable law to all mankind
The Ten Commandments were given by God Himself, "I am the Lord your God..." (Exodus 20:2).
At the heart of the Ten Commandments, God explains to us why we should worship on the Sabbath. "For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it" (Exodus 20:11).
Isaiah 56:6, 7 says, "Everyone who keeps the Sabbath day from profaning it... I will bring them to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer;... for my house shall be called a house of prayer for all peoples."
"Moreover I gave them my Sabbaths, to be a sign between me and them, that they might know that I, the LORD, do sanctify them." Ezekiel 20:12.
"Be holy, for I am holy" is a biblical concept found in 1 Peter 1:15-16 and Leviticus 11:44-45, which emphasizes that believers should strive for holiness in their lives because God Himself is holy. God as the Source of Holiness:
The Bible teaches that God is the ultimate source of holiness. He is the one who is perfectly holy and desires His followers to reflect His holiness.
The message "be holy" implies a call to live a life that is set apart for God's purposes, characterized by righteousness, obedience, and a desire to please Him.
Leviticus 20:7-8 ("Be holy, for I the Lord your God am holy") and Ephesians 1:4 ("He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world to be holy and blameless in His sight") emphasize the importance of holiness in the Christian faith. We cannot make ourselves holy. Only God can make us holy.
