They also haven’t actually played ORAS, or else they would know that not wanting to buy 50 repels to make traversal bearable is a reasonable critique of the game

Not even just ORAS the originals also have TOO MUCH WATER. You need THREE HMs to get around 60% of the map. Yes it’s an island sure. But now I have a water type with surf, waterfall, and dive, just to navigate and I’m basically out a spot in my team bc of this so you’re playing the game with 5 Pokémon and an HM slave.

To this day, I remember the controversy when this review came out being that it seemed like the water thing was the only substantive criticism on the graphic and it bumped the game down like three points. So the controversy was that it made it seem like the water was a super huge issue, not that the water critique was bad itself.

Assuming Elitemap didn't alter the Rom or something (and that Omega Ruby\Alpha Sapphire didn't upgrade the system), water only allowed 5 options in a region while grass allowed 12

It’s not just reviews. If I had $1 for every time I’ve read a take from someone on a piece of media where it’s obvious they didn’t read/watch/listen to it, I wouldn’t be at work right now.
