@dr.rickpescatore: Falls are an important event in a senior citizen’s life, and offer the potential for significant morbidity and mortality. 15% of seniors evaluated and discharged from the emergency department with minor injuries from a fall will suffer functional decline at 3 months—difficulty with activities of daily living, grooming, bathing, and continence. 33% will fall again within the next 6 months. Protect their bodies with #fallprevention. Protect their brains with thiamine. #psa #elderlycare #aging #publichealth
EXERCISE! Many fitness facilities are starting to expand silver fox senior’s classes (I teach them!!) and there’s a huge emphasis on fall prevention and balance improving exercises!

It’s not the fall that kills you. It’s the condition that caused you to fall in the first place - that’s the problem.

@jennybfromb1ock: we need to be more aware if when we are starting to lose strength & take measures to start regaining it. This is one of the biggest prevention we can have control of to prevent having those issues.

Especially when they catch covid in the hospital they get taken to. My MIL caught covid in hospital while there for a routine procedure, dead within 2 weeks.

I have started falling in my 40s and I don't know what is happening. It's like it happens in slow mo and I am just going down. Uneven ground or my foot catches as I step up stairs. The stair one has often happened in my life but the uneven ground and rolling my ankle and not being able to catch myself is in the last few years
