Soil definitely spreads disease to the leaves. However, healthy soil contains far fewer diseases

Hybrids are are more desease resistant than heirlooms. It’s more important to keep heirloom leaves away from soil.

growing tomatoes for 25 years...have tried pruning bottom leaves some years, never made a difference..by Mid july always get blight. mix 1 to 4 ratio water & vinegar pour on soil carefully without touching plant. cover soil with weed free straw..

Pruning them too much can make them susceptible to disease especially during a drought or if the clippers arent clean
