US is one of TWO countries where the citizens still have to file and owe taxes on worldwide income. The other countrys worldwide income tax rate is only 2%

I’ve been out of the US 24 years and have not once filed my taxes or given them any info. When I became a dual UK citizen I changed my nationality with my banks.

it's still expensive AND you'll also have to do an irs exit tax. it's insane, even people with permanent residency visas who've lived in the USA and paid taxes for 10+ years have to do as well or they have to continue to file their taxes even after they've renounced their visa.

I lived in Thailand 20 years. Only returned to the U.S. once in that time. Now my family and I are living in the U.S. and I got my kids citizenship not long before returning. It's still good to keep all your options open.
