I learned to speak Dutch and Dansk through Duolingo. My home language is Afrikaans, so it wasn't too hard. Took me three years.

That is how we learned as babies. Thinking and dreaming is the sign you’ve become fluent!

Hi there 👋🏾 I've done this twice (with Spanish and Portuguese) while living in primarily English speaking countries and doing online immersion/language study. It didn't take two months, it takes around 6 to 12 months to build up conversational skills with deliberate practice every day. It's hard work, and you have to be really motivated, but it is possible. You also have to keep practising to not lose your skills.

It’s nearly impossible. I have tried learning 12 International languages by reading independently but it’s hard you forget words, speaking the language daily is the only solution.

First thing: the lil first step thingies (rules words how to introduce yourself yada yada) After that u can start doing these: - music, movies, tiktoks, your phone.. etc ALL IN THAT LANGUAGE - Read in that language (yes read stuff u don't understand trust me on this, cuz like she said u will learn some stuff from understanding the global concept and our brain tends to remember stuff we struggle with better than stuff we learn easily) - try to talk to urself in that language (yes even if all yk is Kaffee und tee, best thing that works for me personally is describing what I'm doing, AGAIN IF U'R STRUGGLING THEN IT'S WORKING) - the kids stuff (stories n songs) -mirroring native speakers

Learning German specifically, needs memorizing words, articles and grammars, the more you work on memorizing them, the more fluent you are going to become. And before learning any language, you need to look up for how the concept and the system of the language is. Reading is one of the main key for learning, because your both brain and sensations are going to work, by such as seeing the articles, words and the structure of a sentence then for example reading them out loud to hear them to process them. If i want to study in Germany as many students do by at first getting the DSH2-3 level of language, I would spend 3-5 hours daily studying the language as it’s my bachelor degree. Reading -> Repeating -> interacting with the language and its sentences as you are a Hollywood actor for memorizing it. And whats more importantly is the goal and the motivation of the learning, when you learn it for fun is different from learning it academically and the way is different too! Choosing the right school is also going to be different according to the goal for learning it such as for academic purposes you need to learn it at University language center better than a cultural school such as Goethe Institute in Germany.
