@c_buildingquietwealth: Taxable brokerage accounts…the most misunderstood investment account but one I think everyone should have. It acts as a bridge between the age you want to retire and the time you can access the money in your retirement accounts (401k, 403b, IRA etc.) without incurring an early withdrawal penalty. Here’s my annual investing process: 1. 401k match 2. Max out Roth IRA 3. Dollar cost average into my taxable brokerage account Because I want to retire before I’m 59 1/2. But even if I didn’t, I think it’s important every investor have an account they can access their money from without penalty. *Not financial advice. Educational purposes only. Always do your own research before investing. #investingforbeginners #financialliteracy #PersonalFinance #personalfinanceforwomen #investingexplained
How is this taxed throughout the year? Or how is this taxed when you retire?

If you’re on the other end of the spectrum. Once you’re retired can you continue to contribute to an Ira? If not seems like you’ll need individual brokerage account if you want to continue to invest is that correct?

You should have all three account types, taxable, tax deferred and tax free to give yourself the greatest flexibility.

This is such helpful information, no one expects to have a life situation where they may need that money before 59.5 Lots of folks end up having limitations on how much they can work/earn but don’t fully qualify to get Social Security disability payments. ( and that process is long and hard even if you qualify!)
