The whole myth around the number 13 on the bottom is just entirely made up by antique dealers to try to increase the value of common jars. They printed the number 13 as often as they printed the number 12.

I bought a pickup load of jars at a farm auction a couple of years ago for like 10 bucks. 95 percent of them were the blue jars with the zinc lids.

I feel like antique stores are just a tax write-off storage facility for the antique dealers. They don’t really wanna sell anything that they mark it up so high so it just sits there and then they get a tax write off for business.
