From the bench to behind bars: A former Ohio judge is accused of using his attorney credentials to get into jail for sex — allegedly bringing vape pens and tobacco to trade with an inmate. James Patrick Kenney, a former Hamilton County judge and current attorney, is accused of using his professional credentials to arrange a contact visit with a male inmate he was not representing at the Clermont County Jail. According to court records obtained by Local 12, investigators allege Kenney brought three vape pens and two tins of tobacco into the jail in exchange for sexual contact with the inmate. The contraband was allegedly distributed to other prisoners, eventually triggering an investigation. The Clermont County Sheriff’s Office says investigators uncovered sexually explicit communications between Kenney and the inmate. Kenney allegedly admitted using his attorney credentials to arrange the Aug. 4 visit and confirmed sexual activity occurred. Kenney is now charged with engaging in prostitution, solicitation and obstructing official business. His bond was set at $150,000, and investigators say additional people are expected to be charged. And this isn't Kenney’s first case involving sexual misconduct. In 2005, while working as an assistant Hamilton County prosecutor, Kenney pleaded guilty to sexual imposition. His subsequent attorney-discipline case resulted in a two-year suspension, with 18 months stayed, followed by two years of probation. #truecrime
