@m_g16_17: We drift apart. Not in one moment, not with one goodbye, not with one last conversation. It happens quietly. Slowly. In ways we don’t notice at first. We stop saying the small things. We stop asking how the day was. We leave messages unanswered a little longer each time. We assume there will always be another chance to explain, another day to care, another moment to return to how things used to be. And then one day, we realize something changed. Not because there was a fight. Not because someone suddenly stopped loving. But because distance grew in places where closeness used to live. We drift apart when silence becomes easier than honesty. When effort starts feeling one-sided. When we begin carrying thoughts we once shared out loud. Sometimes the saddest part is that nobody meant for it to happen. Nobody planned to become strangers. Nobody woke up and decided to leave. Life moved, people changed, feelings got quieter, and somehow what once felt permanent became something we only remember. There is a strange kind of pain in missing someone who still exists. Knowing they are out there, living their life, while your place in it slowly disappeared. Not because you stopped caring, but because caring alone does not always keep people close. We drift apart, and sometimes we carry questions with us: Could we have talked more? Tried harder? Stayed longer? But not every distance is caused by failure. Some people enter our lives to teach us something, to become part of our story, not all of it. And maybe growing means accepting that not every goodbye is spoken. Some goodbyes happen in silence, in shorter conversations, in changed routines, in hearts learning to live differently. So if we drift apart… I hope I remember us with softness, not with anger. I hope I stop asking why everything changed, and start being thankful that for some time, we were close enough to matter. Because not every person who leaves takes the meaning with them. Some leave memories, lessons, and parts of us that stay. And maybe that is what hurts the most— not that we became distant, but that once upon a time, we never thought we would.
