my favorite example is the same volume of water is poured into a taller skinnier glass and then are asked which one holds more. and they agree that the skinnier taller vessel actually holds more. I should have become a magician.

Critical and logic thinking really isn't natural for people. it has to be not only learned but practiced constantly. It is in fact a perishable skill if not used regularly. And it's very hard to do, especially in all aspects of one's life.
