I wouldn't put Justin Lin in the same league as Chloé Zhao and Celine Song. When he was selected to direct Tokyo Drift, he changed the orientalist depiction of Japan from the script in favor of a more modern setting and added Sung Kang's Better Luck Tomorrow character Han, which retroactively makes BLT a Fast & Furious prequel. In addition, he also helped F&F become a more racially diverse franchise, which lead to it becoming popular overseas. Recently, he executive produced the Warrior TV series based on Bruce Lee's writings and he's involved in a TV miniseries about Shohei Ohtani's translator's gambling scandal. He's still rocking with y'all ✊🏼

When i saw the cast of beef season two i was so disappointed. i thought that Beef offered a new perspective. The second season’s casts wasn’t an effort to diversify the perspectives, but to appeal to white ppl imo

Thank you for this 😭 like I had no interest in beef s2. Perfect opportunity to give more Asian actors visibility. And even if they’re going to cast non-Asians, why is white the default? Cast other poc. I’d love to see more Asian stories with other poc ♥️
