With those dodges, when towing keep it in manual selector mode for the trans and set it to 5th gear when going up hills or any decent grade. That will allow it to shift until 5th but not 6th. Towing up grades in 6th will destroy your OD clutch pack and will cause premature failure in the valve body aswell

Parker, a little trick. I learned when I was backing up trailers when I was younger. instead of holding the top of the steering wheel, wrap it at the bottom and so when you go to turn it confuses your brain slightly until you always end up turning the right direction because the trailer try and get pushed the other direction from where you're turning. so with your hand on the opposite side from where it normally is it made it a little easier for me. and another thing is slight corrections. if you notice the trailer start going one way a little too much, turn hard and then ease out of it to keep you going straight

a lil tip longer trailers are actually easier I've backed up a lowboy trailer with 2 cars on it no problem but backing up a jet ski it took more tries than I'm willing to admit my first time .now I'm basically a pro at it but I was once so bad I had to have someone back my jet ski in the water for me 🤣

Maybe it’ll make you feel better about trying, but backing up a long trailer is easier than a short trailer. It takes longer to react so it’s more forgiving, short trailers get away from you way faster. Start right there in an open area with nothing to hit. Pick a spot or lay out pylons or boxes and try it. Only way to get experience.

Hint my grandpa gave me when backing up out your hands at the bottom whatever way you want the trailer to go move your hands that way it’s easier than trying to relent to go opposite ways

here’s a tip: place your hand at the bottom of the steering wheel, and if you need to go right, take your hand right, need to go left, take your hand left. only works that way, if your hand is at the bottom
