Ariana has said that her grandpa pronounced it as “Grandy” to Americanize it more when they moved from Italy. Frankie wanted to undo the Americanization of the name and changed it back to Grandé and they kept it that way. Ariana likes “Grandy” because it reminds her of her grandpa

I'm not going to purposely mispronounce Navarette which is a very common spanish last name just because one actress decided it would be easier to pronounce it differently for the English speakers, it's the same with Alyssa Liu mispronouncing her last name as "Lu", like it's fine if they want to pronounce it like that but I'm not going to do it.
