@vocaldecoding: Singers, you do not need to learn music theory to be a great singer. You don't need to sight read. You don't need to sight sing. You don't need to even read music. Don't let anybody shame you into thinking that you do. Some of the greatest singers and songwriters ever didn't know any music theory and just did it by instinct and intuition, emotion, and feeling. You don't have to learn any of that if it's a distraction. If you want to learn it, go ahead, but don't feel like you have to. If you think it'll help you, go ahead. The thing you do need to learn are the notes of the bridges in your voice, and you have to understand how your voice works. Then you’ve got to get your performance chops going and your mindset to support your performance and your singing. But other than that, you do not need all the distraction of music theory unless you want to learn it. Don't let anybody make you feel less than because you don't know that stuff.
