that's not true about the accent. I've been living in Spain for almost 2 years from England and only racism I've had is for being brown...not for being British nor the accent

Nope. I am spanish my boyfriend is British, and no one ever judge’s him for the accent. In fact he speaks little spanish as he is learning and yes, we do live here and have a child.

Lived in Spain 36 years and now live in an entirely Spanish village and encounter no issues. I speak fluent Spanish and they don’t moan about any accent that I may have.

My friend has lived in Malaga for 6 years and he said exactly the same thing. They tolerate us at the holiday resorts because the English by far are the biggest spenders, but they don’t like us at all..

I was actively having a miscarriage with my first pregnancy and the woman examining me spent more time having a go at me for not knowing a lot of Spanish (mid panic attack and losing my baby) and was sooo rude to me didn’t explain anything what was happening t me because she was too busy trying to tell me how I should be fluent in Spanish

This isn’t my experience, i’m scottish/italian, didn’t speak a word of spanish 3 yrs ago, when we moved here, now i have learned, but they have never been racist to me or my kids! They actually compliment our spanish after 3 years!

Excuse me?????? If you go to Spain you naje the effort to speack spanish. I am living 20 years in the UK and I had a hard timevtrying to learn english. I did my best, and I am sorry but I was not expecting british people to soeack spanish. Can't believe this post. Calling us racist....

Asking “do you speak Spanish” isn’t racist, it’s just a barrier and people usually just ask questions like that out of curiosity. You’re in Spain so obviously Spanish as a whole is their main language, English is usually as a side subject like we were raised talking English and took either french or Spanish at school. At least use the words and phrases you know and be more open to learning and adapting to where you now reside.
