@careboutclare: This fully 3D printed hydroponic tower might be one No soil, of the coolest functional prints ever stackable design, and perfect for growing plants indoors all year round. #Hydroponics #3DPrinting #DIYProject #IndoorGarden #MakerWorld
$60 for filament, $100-whatever you want to spend on a 3d printer, $5 for bucket, pump $20-$30. Found a similar hydroponic system on Amazon for less than $70.

Some tips.
1. Use a black bucket to prevent light getting into your nutrients and causing algae.
2. Use a darker material for the other parts to block light to prevent algae.
3. Make another hole in the bucket lid to add more fluid as needed. You will be adding at least a gallon or 3 per week

Printed a version of this awhile ago, had great results. Had the best luck using dark color ASA filament.

How food safe is that plastic? Constant water flow will leach out any BPAs/other hazardous chemicals and the plants will soak it up with the water.

No, I am 100% going to try and print this. I’ve always wanted a hydroponic device, but they are so expensive.

considering 3D printing is not food safe no matter what filament you use what is this going to do to the plants if anything?

I wanted to print a tower like this, but when I calculated the cost, it was cheaper to buy a complete tower with a pump off AliExpress. 195 USD. Delivery costs included.

You should look at a feeding system. It usually involves a reservoir and float valve.

That does not look like a few spools of filament, that looks like closer to 500g

Can you share the makerworld handle so I can find it? I haven’t stumbled into this design and I have been looking for a good hydroponic design

for those that want to shop local, an aquarium store will have ALL the additional supplies you need for this project as well as support for lighting, and automating the pump/lighting setup.

additional items that would be great for the 3d print for this: cap for non-used plant spaces, plant support braces for larger plants.

there are people in the comments who simply don't understand that ALL plastic is toxic. There are 0 benefits to using plastic over more natural materials.
