Not like it was 35 years ago when I left law enforcement, back then officers used there best judgment as to how they were going to handle each situation. Now they are so afraid of loosing their jobs because of lawsuits and other bullshit many are pushing every charge they can on people even if they know it’s likely to be thrown out in court. They have already created a record for the person by then that will always remain in their system. I found in my time that 90 percent of the cops I worked with would have had a record or serving time if they had not been given a break
