Apparently… They didn’t. ⸻ Years later… I was home alone. Around 2:30 AM… I woke up for no reason. The room was completely silent. Then I felt it. That strange feeling… Like someone was watching me. I slowly opened my eyes. There was a person standing outside my bedroom window. Completely still. Their face was hidden in the darkness. I remembered my mom’s rule. So I didn’t move. ⸻ Minutes passed. The figure never left. Never blinked. Never knocked. Just watched. Then… My phone buzzed. A text from my mom. “Don’t look at the window.” Too late. Another text came immediately after. “If you’ve already looked…” ”…don’t look away.” ⸻ My eyes started watering. I wanted to blink. The figure slowly smiled. Then… It took one step closer. Its face was now pressed against the glass. It looked exactly like me. Same clothes. Same haircut. Same terrified expression. Then it whispered… Without opening its mouth… “I’m trying to get back in.” ⸻ I blinked. Just once. The window was empty. I jumped out of bed and ran downstairs. Every window in the house was locked.
