There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t replay the day I lost my son. I still don’t feel ready to talk about it. The pain is overwhelming. But I’ve learned that silence leaves room for rumors, and my son deserves better than that. Today, I’m sharing the truth, not because it’s easy, but because I want to honor Emanuel, raise awareness, and hopefully save another family from this kind of heartbreak. On May 31, 2026, my 15 year old son, Emanuel, lost his life in a UTV rollover accident. Emanuel was not the driver. He was the passenger. Days earlier, a friend invited him to go mudding. He had gone before, so while I was hesitant, I eventually said yes. Emanuel himself was a very responsible driver, but this time someone else was behind the wheel. I dropped him off, met the friends he was with, and even asked what they were going to be driving and where they were going. Everything felt normal. About an hour and a half later, I texted him to check in. “How’s everything?” He told me they were having fun and would be heading home soon. Five minutes later… Everything changed. The UTV rolled over. There were six people in the vehicle, including a 6 year old little girl sitting on Emanuel’s lap. Because she was on his lap, Emanuel wasn’t wearing his seat belt. In those final moments, my son protected that little girl. She survived. My son didn’t. The ambulance rushed my baby to the hospital, but his injuries were too severe. Nothing could have prepared me for hearing the words, “He didn’t make it.” In that moment, my world stopped. My heart shattered. I couldn’t breathe. I couldn’t process that my baby was gone. I lost a part of myself that day. The truth is, I’m barely surviving. Most days I don’t even want to be here. But I’m also a mom to 4 other beautiful babies who need me. Emanuel had the biggest heart. He was always looking out for others. Because of him, that little girl has the chance to grow up. Now I want to say this to every parent: Please don’t ever think, “It won’t happen to us.” I thought the same thing. I let my son go because I wanted him to have fun. I truly believed he would come back home that evening. If I had known it would be the last time I hugged him, heard his voice, or saw his smile, I never would have let him get on that UTV. The guilt I carry is indescribable. I replay every decision, every conversation, every hug, every minute. I hate myself for saying yes. I’m sharing our story because UTVs, ATVs, four-wheelers, and even e-bikes are not toys. Please make sure every rider has their own seat, wears the proper restraint, and understands the risks. One decision can change a family’s life forever. You never think it’s going to happen to your family… until it does. If Emanuel’s story saves even one life or makes even one parent stop and think, then sharing the worst day of my life will have been worth it. Please remember my son for the incredible young man he was, not for the way he died, but for the way he lived. He loved being a barber. He loved sports, music, making people laugh, and he loved his siblings with his whole heart. He had big dreams, endless potential, and a future he was so excited for. Remember his smile. Remember his kindness. Remember his heart. Remember the barber who was building a future. The big brother who adored his siblings. The son who was my greatest blessing. Forever 15. Forever loved. Forever my son 🤍🕊️ #grief #awareness #Novablendz #childloss #grievingmom
