@gluten.free.runne: I just want to remind you that no matter what anybody else says, you can achieve whatever you want through hard work, determination, and mindset. If you tell yourself you’re capable of something, you start subconsciously looking for ways to make it happen. But if you constantly tell yourself you can’t, or believe the people who tell you that you can’t, then you’ll never allow yourself to try. Throughout my time in high school, and especially this past year with me achieving a lot through social media and in my personal life, I’ve been ridiculed by the very people that are supposed to give me an education more times than I can count. Since I walked into school on the very first day of ninth grade, I have been isolated by my peers and even some teachers and coaches and criticized for not “fitting in.” But I think that’s what made me happiest in the end: not fitting in. Not making school the center of my identity. Not relying only on the things other people defined as success. Instead, I learned to look inward and decide what success meant to me. I learned to focus on the traits I wanted to cultivate within myself and figure out how to build a life that aligned with that, even when it didn’t fit the mold people expected me to follow. And that’s okay. As I sat there yesterday listening to speeches about how school is supposed to be a supportive community that nurtures students and helps them grow, it was really hard for me to relate to because I never felt supported during my high school experience. At all. If anything, I felt like a burden and an outsider. But even through that, I learned how to believe in myself instead of relying on outside validation. I may not have had the picturesque high school experience they show in movies, but I had my high school experience. One that taught me resilience, independence, self-awareness, and how to believe in myself even when other people didn’t. And even though I have never had the picturesque high school experience they market in movies, I had my high school experience. Even though I most definitely did not peak in high school, I am very excited for what’s to come in my future. I know my worth. I know the impact I want to have on the world, and I’m figuring out how to get there myself. To the people who never believed in me: thank you for teaching me how to believe in myself harder. And to the people who had a difficult high school journey too: I see you. Your life is going to become so much bigger than these four years. #glutenfreerunner #graduation #senioryear #highschool #classof2026
