I don't rate him as an artist (example, this particular painting) but I LOVE his later colour field work.

Decades ago, I saw a Rothko exhibit at LACMA. I spent some time with it and I've taken other opportunities to see single examples since then. I don't think I'm artistically illiterate, but I honestly don't see what others see in Rothko. Can someone who loves his work explain what it says to you?

I get it. Wish I could see it in person. It looks like it is placed in a room, looking out a window, staring at the world in front. The yellow and orange gives warmth and creativity giving the overflowing sense that anything is possible.
