(spoilers up to wano since thats the arch i just finished) see i have a great fear. liffy dies young. law saves him by giving him immortality form the fruit.... but luffy hates immortality it takes away his freedom. sure he lives forever but it takes away his freedom to die when he is finished. he is literally a god at this point thanks to his fruit but a god without immortality is just a great hero (in the Greek sense luffy doesnt identify as a hero but he does work within Greek hero archetypes like alot of people in one peice do, especially ace being a tragic Greek hero who dies by his greatest flaw, pride blinding his judgment). I hope it doesnt go this way because I dont want a sad fate for luffy but like I could see that as a story one could tell given the set up. laws fruit has to come back its a gun that hasnt gone off yet. I cant wait to see how it goes off but the tragic writer in me has thought of the above and is worried xD

I think Luffy kicks the bucket and God Usop gets the fruit. his ability with lies coming true and gaining access to the toon force makes a fair amount of sense to me.

He isn’t reaching 60, he uses the DF in a wrong way gear 2-4 all cost him life span, the best solution is for him to stop using them and stick to base or Gear 5

What if the lifespan hints were just to make you think he was gonna die earlier than everyone else so when he did fighting Kaido you had the implication he died even earlier and you get more shocked he comes back?
