As a Black person, I feel like we’re looking into Cortis way TOO much 😭 it’s like digging for gold that isn’t even there… Just because something looks similar doesn’t mean it has the same value, copper and gold aren’t the same thing. Martin grew up with a white father, moved to Korea when he was young, and learned a lot of his English through social media like YouTube and TikTok. People naturally pick up the way others talk, especially Gen Z, so that doesn’t automatically mean he’s trying to imitate anyone. Also, why would he talk to his dad the same way he talks to his friends? Different relationships have different ways of communicating. Cortis has shown so much appreciation and respect towards Black people, so sometimes it feels like people are forcing an issue that just isn’t there 😔

I’m a coer. Martin learns blaccent off of internet which I fully agree of, and it gets to a point. I don’t see them as racist. The way you speak is completely normal, btw. He speaks like that with his friends because a lot of people use aave online, most friends use slang and a different way of speaking with friends than parents. It’s different if it’s casual slang but aave is different. So I agree with you. Some coers are delusional. They’re young, they’re still kindve learning out to act on camera, so criticism can help. Criticism isn’t hate, it’s help to improve what their doing wrong 😭
