I have a better solution that doesn't require any cables or opening any software. install Dropbox both on your cell phone and desktop computer. Turn on automatic camera uploads on your cell phone Dropbox app. Every time you take a video or photo, it will show up in your Dropbox on your computer instantly. This works both on iPhone and Android.

Have you done one for a Windows laptop from an iPhone? I have been trying to take my photos off my phone and I am not able to do it. I always get an error code saying not transferable. Any help would be amazing.

much easier to just open the Photos app and click on your phone and then click on import

I just did this but using a Sandisk 1TB to import my 21k photos and 4.7k videos onto it but it took a while for me to change the settings to where it would automatically go onto the SSD rather than my MacBook 💻 great and useful video!

addendum: on your computer, go into your Dropbox folder and find "camera uploads". all your photos will be in there. this has saved me so much time with synchronization.
