@madscientistofmuscle: I'm open to this being awesome or stupid... or both. Combat athletes and coaches, please weigh in on this! If you test it, I'd love to get feedback on if you think this might actually be useful. It's essentially High Guard Band Walking. Here's my big question with this one... with actual combat sports, a major goal is to actually NOT tighten up and brace constantly but to stay loose (to maintain better breathing and circulation). When doing this one, I actually tried to do that... as in maintain the high guard position against band tension while still keeping as relatively loose as I could. If you test it, try that and let me know how that feels. I did this one for intervals of a minute or so, but feel free to use whatever you like. To do it, you're looping a couple of thin bands around the arms of the treadmill, gripping the ends in your hands (letting the band run down the outside of the forearms) then trying to maintain that high guard position while walking on the treadmill. This really brings in not only the front delts and upper back nicely, I found it really targeted anti-flexion in the core as well because once you lock in the arms and upper back, the bands are then trying to fold you in half at the midsection. And you're doing it while walking, which creates dynamic loading in the core. I started off using some skinny bands from @vectorathlete (code FITPOWER20 will get you 20% off on their silicone bands, if you're interested). This felt just about right in terms of being able to keep the hands up but still giving good resistance against that. In the second part of the video, I bumped up the band size a bit and it was MUCH harder to keep the hands up (which I think was actually still beneficial for short intervals). --- Got a muscle group or exercise you want to build FAST? unc I saved the one you did pulling the bands out across your body, and I was literally thinking how you could do it like this.

once again another very cool variation. the time under tension and core activation are through the roof

One hundred and ten percent helps with shoulder endurance which is definitely useful for combat sports. Helps build good habits for new guys too who don’t wanna keep their hands up

i obviously havent tried it yet, but i had 42 amateur fights and never had trouble with like, the weight of my hands being up enough to need to train it. The reason people lower their hands is because its easier to breathe and move. Its tiring on the shoulders when youre hitting the bag at a rapid clip but in an actual match you arent making near as much contact and its more the occasional pain of hitting a skull with your knuckles than being fatigued from hitting someone in general. I could see it being awesome for core and teaching you to belly breathe when under attack though

since you say the focus is mainly the core wont this be the same as a farmer carry? either way it looks very interesting may be good if complemented by explosive curls or even clap push ups
