* **Location:**Located the northern part of Madinah, approximately 4 kilometers from the Prophet's Mosque (Al-Masjid an-Nabawi). * **Religious Significance:** It holds a special place in the hearts of Muslims. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) expressed his affection for it, saying: **"Uhud is a mountain which loves us and which we love."** * **Historical Importance:** The mountain and its surrounding area were the site of the famous **Battle of Uhud** in the third year of the Hijra calendar. It contains the "Cemetery of the Uhud Martyrs," where seventy noble companions were buried, foremost among them is the Prophet’s uncle, Hamzah bin Abdul-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with them all). ### **Mount Uhud and the Hajj Rituals** * **Not Part of Hajj Rituals:** Mount Uhud is completely unrelated to the essential rituals or pillars of Hajj (such as Tawaf, Sa'i, Standing at Arafat, or staying in Muzdalifah and Mina). All Hajj rituals take place strictly within the sacred boundaries of **Makkah**. * **Ruling on Visiting:** Visiting Mount Uhud—and Madinah in general—is a **highly recommended Sunnah (voluntary act)** at any time of the year. Pilgrims usually visit before or after Hajj to pray in the Prophet's Mosque, greet the Prophet (pbuh), and visit the martyrs of Uhud to supplicate for them and reflect on Islamic history. It is not an obligatory part of the Hajj pilgrimage itself.
