I have a question, if the central line is the cause of the infection/sepsis? Why is it still in place and not removed? Does that still require IR?

Genuine question; in Canada, as RNs, we remove PICCs/Central lines all the time.. and they’re inserted as a sterile procedure at bedside.. is this not common?

At this point I refuse home health care when it comes to my port. I've been in this same position 6 times in the last year and a half and it's just so fucking frustrating.

Im a surgical tech here in PR i have never in my 16 years heard of a nurse putting in a central line NEVER. Im also a nursing student about to graduate and it baffles me the amount of nurses that don’t do proper sterile techniques

Just had my line pulled for the third time the other day! Lidocaine injections help so much and it's barely painful. You'll do well and will hopefully feel much better soon enough!

Have you thought about getting a port.. I know they also come with infection risk but I would think it is a bit lower because it's not exposed at all like a line
