That's good advice but I'll add always collect and give points for the work so that students understand that you can't play when there's a sub and all assigned work is important.

As a sub. It should be things that kids can do independently without needing to ask 7000000 questions or bother their neighbor to accomplish! Something I can tell the to do, that will take the entire class period to finish.

As an elementary sub NOOOO. Unstructured wishy washy plans are the absolute WORST, please make sure your class is prepared for a sub and that they know they are still there to learn

I NEVER leave 'real' lesson plans. its always 'journal thats on Google classroom, reading, and then an edpuzzle' or writing an essay. the most I've asked the sub is to set a timer and one time to read a poem out loud
