Coco bliss is easy to get and holds good amount of water . 4.8g of water to coco coir weight ratio. No verm . Pet store bricks only hold about 2200ml of water coco bliss 650g brick will hold 3100ml of water and about the same price sometimes cheaper

Cheap agricultural grade is full of bacteria like pseudomous/ blotch an thats a nightmare contamination. Petgrade is better/cleaner, cocobliss is the one i see most ppl use. U can also lawnmow straw an compost it partially as a substrate, u need to pasturize it/ it smells ALOT like manure pasturized(bc of beneficial bacteria)😂 Peatmoss is a NON-RENEWABLE resource an contributes to methane in the air, its 30 times worse than CO2. Its not a substrate but a casing material for some cubes an most exotics. peatbogs also host tons of rare plants an animals. You can compost moss as a substitute, the need to replace peatmoss at scale is huge for agricultural an mycology.
