“Why do my jeans fit looser in the legs but I can’t button them anymore?” This is one of the most frustrating patterns I see in the women I help and it’s not random. Legs and arms shrinking while your midsection feels softer, puffier, and harder to budge almost always points to one thing… Chronically elevated cortisol. I’m totally kidding… Although it can be at play, this goes much deeper than just cortisol. Your body is essentially getting a signal to break down muscle tissue for energy. Likely from years of under-eating, overtraining, poor sleep, and relentless pressure to do more. At the same time, this stress can drive cravings and appetite fluctuations, increasing fat storage directly to your midsection because that fat is closest to your liver and easiest to access during a perceived threat. So your legs shrink, your belly grows, and nothing about your approach seems to explain it. This is also why adding more cardio and trying to white knuckle less food usually just makes it worse. You’re not solving any problem that way. You’re just adding more stress to a body that is already overwhelmed. The real fix is teaching your body that it’s safe enough to stop conserving energy and start burning it again. That means eating enough. Sleeping better. Training smarter. Bringing stress down. Then and only then does body composition start shifting the way you want it to. Comment “PLAN” and I’ll send you my free 7-day guide to restore your energy and help you body respond to fat loss again.
