It took me less than a week to write the cover, it was quite straight forward since the song is so repetitive. Whenever I write my covers I always like to try replicate the energy of the original song. There are two glissandos to replicate the sliding pitch in the song. Many other small details are included such as: the Mario-like coin sound, flute-like slide in the second verse, slight changes to rhythm and pitch, and the variations in the “REDRED” figure that appear throughout the song (where some iterations sound “dirtier” and others “cleaner”). Those details usually make my cover more difficult to play: the glissandos, 9ths and 10ths, big octave jumps with octave chords, and most notably the 3 on 4 polyrhythms (made more difficult due to the fact that it is not a continuous series of semiquavers and the LH and RH are often very close in proximity when playing the polyrhythm). But it is all in the interest of making it sound cool 😎. Simplifications can be made easily by removing glissandos (or playing just single note version), simplifying left hand rhythm (as the coordination between the two hands is… annoying) and playing the LH part in bars 13-14 throughout the whole chorus, to avoid the big jumps. The right hand can be simplified further by reducing the octave (not playing the bottom note). Someone did ask about the chords in this song. There are only 3: D, G and F, all missing the 3rd in those chords, giving the unique 5th sound. But I do believe the implied harmony would be: D minor, G major, and F major. Hope to hear you guys try my cover on REDRED, good luck 😉. #CORTIS #REDRED #코르티스 #pianocover #sheetmusic
