Everything he says is absolutely true. In Formula 1, the driver is just there to push buttons at the right moment, steer, accelerate, brake, and that's it. In other racing series, the driver's skill behind the wheel is still valued, but in Formula 1, it's all about commerce. Money rules the world, and many viewers only see the races and the cars, and that's it. It's all very regrettable. Max is also the only one who speaks out about it; the other drivers, well, just accept it and move on.

It's clear that Formula 1 isn't what it used to be; safety and other things had to be adapted. I've been watching motorsport since 1990 – Formula 1, NASCAR, DTM, IndyCar, MotoGP, 24-hour races – and one thing is certain: especially in Formula 1, the driver as such has been increasingly relegated to the background, which is completely different in the 24-hour race, for example. We saw at the Nürburgring what makes a good driver, and there are plenty of them: Estre, Feller, van der Linde, Auer, and many, many more. That's what Max can do, and he's shown it. He wants to transfer that to F1 so that the whole thing becomes more attractive again and isn't just focused on commercialism.
