I agree there could've been a better term than radical "feminist" but it's because these women see trans women as a "threat" for some reason

radical feminism is a separate subsection of feminism (like liberal or intersectional). the reason people use TERF is because radical feminists focus on female liberation and are often gender critical and/or bioessentialist. i do agree with a lot of what you’re saying but that term makes perfect sense even if its overused

There are also lgb that hate trans people. More of that than the other way around in my limited experience. Definitions evolve over time I have no problem including trans women. Terf is describing a sub group of feminists whose primary advocacy is anti-trans not pro-woman. Some might use it more loosely than they should.
