When a user turned the TV off, the screen went black & LEDs were suppressed (making the TV appear powered down), but the device was actually still active & recording. Audio Subsystem: It periodically reactivated the TV's audio subsystem to capture conversations.The project, which was built on an older MI5 tool called "Extending," primarily operated as a sophisticated eavesdropping bug disguised as a television.
